Maui with kids aged 3 to 6

Slow island days and sea turtles

Maui is perfect for a slower family trip. Base yourself in one area, spend mornings at calm beaches, and save scenic drives for nap time.

Best time to go

Warm year round. April to May and September to November are often quieter. Winter is whale watching season.

Getting around

You need a rental car. Bring or rent car seats. Long drives like the Road to Hana are hard with small kids.

Stroller notes

Resort paths and some beach walks are stroller friendly. A carrier is handy for short trails.

Toilets and changing

Beach parks often have restrooms, but some are basic. Plan stops before longer drives.

Nap tips

Use drives for nap time. A one hour drive at nap time can feel like a bonus.
